Import, export and recover tenant data
Move operational settings safely, export customer-owned records and restore recoverable states without platform support.
DIRECT ANSWER
Tenant admins can export a portable JSON package containing company, contact, invoice, case, promise and audit data. Contact operational settings can be imported by CSV using known Xero contact IDs. Imports validate the whole file before writing; workspace members can restore archives and pauses from Invoices.
Export tenant data
Open Settings, choose Data, then Download export. Store the JSON according to your organisation's security and retention policy.
Import contact settings
Use a UTF-8 CSV with columns xero_contact_id, b2b_confirmed, chasing_enabled and paused. Boolean values accept true/false, yes/no or 1/0.
- 1Export or obtain the Xero contact IDs already present in Chasd.
- 2Prepare no more than 500 unique rows.
- 3Upload the CSV under Settings, then Data.
- 4Review the success message and audit entry, then inspect affected contacts.
Important: An unknown ID, duplicate ID, invalid boolean, wrong column or oversized file stops the import.
Recover safely
Use Invoices to restore archived contacts or resume intentional pauses. Use Advanced in Settings to correct non-paid case state. Restoring a record never silently enables chasing.
Common questions
Can CSV import create new Xero contacts?
No. Xero remains the contact source. CSV import changes operational settings for contacts already synced into the workspace.
What happens when validation fails?
The import stops and shows a safe correction message. Raw database or internal errors are never displayed.
